August 2, 2009, Orlando, Florida:  The 98/99 Girls claim the National 3v3 title!

In their first year playing 3v3 together, the 98/99 Sunrise Sting Girls capped off a terrific 3v3 season by winning the Challenge 3v3 National Championship.  What an exciting weekend it was, and we cannot be more proud of the girls, who won all of the seven games played during the three-day event.  In bracket play, the girls prevailed against Team Energy (6-0), the Sparking Spider Monkeys (8-1), and the Bulldawgs (10-0).  In the round of 16, the girls continued on their way to the finals with a victory over the Cooper City Cobras Black (6-1).  The quarter final round took place at 8 a.m. on the final day of the tournament, with the girls facing the Bomb Squad, the defending National Champions.  The Sting was ready for the challenge and emerged victorious from a fast-paced and very physical game, with a score of 3-0.  In the semi-finals, the girls fought their way through and won against Weston Wild, with a score of 5-3.  With an hour to reenergize, the Sting came to the final game ready to win and claimed the title with a 7-1 victory over Cooper City Cobras Red.  In all seven games, the girls scored a total of 45 goals, with only 6 allowed.  Congratulations to the girls and to Coach Andres on this spectacular achievement!
