96/97 Girls win National Cup Region C

Jacksonville, Fl (May 26, 2008) - The 96/97 girls have won the US Club Soccer National Cup Region C championship. The National Cup is a nationwide competition and regional competition is held in eight spots across the country. Sunrise defeated Tallahassee and First Coast to set up a championship match with the Florida Soccer Academy (FSA). FSA is essentially the US Club version of the highly ranked Makos team, plus several all stars from about five other clubs in that area.

Sunrise struck first but FSA responded with two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Sunrise then scored three more times for the 4-2 win and championship.

The u15 girls also played in the tournament. The girls lost in the championship match on PKs to Jacksonville, a team they had defeated the day before 2-1. The team also had wins over Strictly Soccer and First Coast.
