Sunrise Sends Three Teams to Playoff Round at the Showcase

Gainesville, Florida (February 18, 2007) - Three of four Sunrise teams are headed to the playoff round at the Gator Showcase. The U14 Premier team won a pair of games today against the NWSC Force and the Gainesville Glory and finished the preliminary round with a 3-0 mark. The team will face PBU in a semi-final game. The U11s won a tight game against CFU 3-2 and also finished with a 3-0 record. The team faces Treasure Coast in the championship game. The u10s controlled most of their first game today against Space Coast but could only manage one goal as Space Coast did a good job in preventing clean shots from Sunrise. The one goal was not enough as Space Coast scored to tie the game when a Sunrise defender tried to clear a Space Coast corner kick at the near post but it ended up bouncing off another Sunrise defender and an opportunistic Space Coast forward knocked it in to tie the game. The u10s then went on to defeat the Lanier Sharks in their final game 5-0 so the u10s finished 2-0-1. The 10s then got some help from Bay United as they defeated Space Coast 3-1. That game gave the u10s the best record in their bracket and a trip to the championship against their Broward country rival West Pines. The u11 Select team had a tougher times and ran into some good teams, the team dropped games to PBU and Creeks Clash. The team finished 1-2.
