Weekend Recap

Jackie Goes Wacky with Hat Trick

January 14, 2007 - The Sunrise girls went 6-2-0 on the weekend raising the season record to 26-5-2.

The U14 Premier girls had a great weekend winning three games over Delray (3-0), Plantation (3-1), and Cooper City 4-1. The team is now 8-2-1. The U14 Select team defeated Royal Palm Beach 4-0 on Friday night. The team was led by Jackie Llorca who scored three goals in a tremendous performance. Jackie's mom Rena, always one for a great quote, simply said that her daughter "Jackie went wacky!" We will take Jackie being wacky whenever she wants. In the second game against the Renegades, the girls lost 2-1 despite playing well. Allison Konners scored for Sunrise off of a pass set up by the outstanding effort of Justine Orsi.

The U11s lost to Wellington. The girls played great and out shot Wellington by a huge margin. In fact, Wellington only had two scoring opportunities but to their credit, finished on both and packed it in on the defensive end preventing a Sunrise score. Wellington won 2-0. The U11s are now 5-2.

The U10s played Weston twice this weekend, home and away. Both games were close and exciting. The girls won both, 1-0 on Friday and 4-3 on Sunday. The girls had to overcome a 2-0 deficit against Weston in the Sunday game. The team scored four straight goals and then allowed one in the closing minutes for the 4-3 win.
