David Hope is the
soccerFLA.com Player of the Week
Miami, Fl (October 17, 2004) - David Hope (North Tyneside, England)
has been named the soccerFLA.com Player of the Week.
The award is given weekly to the top
college player from a Florida school for his or her performance during
the previous week.
Hope
becomes the first player in FIU history to win the award. On Friday,
Hope scored a goal late in the game to help FIU put away Philadelphia
5-2. In the Sunday game against Howard, Hope came off the bench to score
both of the FIU goals and lead the team to a 2-0 victory.
Hope's first goal was in the 28th minute off of a Carron Williams
assist. His second goal came on a broken play in front of the net. Hope
now is tied for the team lead in goals with 5 on the season, and in
points with 13.
Hope is a sophmore forward from England. Last year, he scored the game
winning goal against James Madison. He played on the state championship
team in high school in England and recorded 35 goals in 25 games.
