Shakes commits to UCF

11/16/10

Kristina Shakes of the Coral Springs Lady Renegades U17 team has verbally committed to attend the University of Central Florida for the fall of 2012. She has been on the Florida Olympic Development Program State and Regional teams for the past 4 years (2007-2010).

Tina, as she is affectionately known, has been with the Renegades Soccer Club since she was 7 years old. She made her first ODP State team playing up with the ’93s in 2007. The following year, 2008, made the ’94 State and Regional Teams and since 2008, Tina has travelled to Pomona, California for the U14-ID National Camp and has participated in the annual Inter-Regional Event with the Region III team. She was again selected for the ’94 Region III team to participate in the Inter-Regional event at FAU, November 19th through November 25th 2010. Earlier this year, she was selected to the Region III team that travelled to Germany and Holland.

University of Central Florida is Tina’s choice for quite a few reasons. “The campus is absolutely amazing, the dorms are great and not being too far from home, my family will be able to watch my games. The first time I met the coaches and watched the team play, I knew right away that this is where I want to be for 2012”, stated Kristina, who is a junior at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and plays for Coach Stu Katz.

Kristina is the daughter of Sandy Jackson and Rohan Shakes of Coral Springs, Florida. She has one brother, Kristopher, who is also a great athlete and plays travel baseball for the Margate Makos and travel soccer for the Renegades Soccer Club.
