Five Gator Soccer Players on 2010 Preseason All-SEC List

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A league-high five University of
Florida players are among the soccer coaches Preseason All-Southeastern
Conference team, the league office released on Monday. Since the league
started the Preseason All-SEC team in 2007, five selections by a program
is an SEC record. The previous high was four selections by the Gators in
2007.
This is the fourth year for the preseason All-SEC team. The
coaches preseason All-SEC team consists of a minimum of 11 players. Each
SEC head soccer coach voted for five attackers, five defenders and one
goalkeeper. No ties were broken. Florida is the four-time defending SEC
champion, claiming the 2009 title with an 8-1-2 record in league play.

Ashlee Elliott (Sr., MF) - 2008 & 2007 All-Southeastern
Conference first-team selection - 2008 National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas All-Southeast Region second team
selection - 2007 All-SEC Tournament selection - Coming off a
redshirt season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear of
her left knee early in 2009 campaign

A chance to
see the 2010 Gator soccer team in preseason action is set for Saturday,
Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. when UF plays host to Alabama-Birmingham. Soccer will
be the first Florida team to compete this season, as the Gators open the
2010 season against three in-state rivals, starting at home against
Miami on Aug. 20. The Gators then take to the road to play at UCF on
Aug. 22 and return home to play Florida Atlantic on Aug. 27. The 2010
season will be challenging for the Gators, as over half of Florida’s 19
regular-season opponents received berths in the 2009 NCAA Championships’
64-team field.
