Brustad PDL Rookie of Year Finalist

DeLand, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues has announced the finalists for the 2010 Premier Development League Honors and Stetson's Fredrik Brustad was one of three first-year players nominated for Rookie of the Year. On the season he tallied 10 points (two goals and six assists) in 14 games for the Central Florida Kraze.

The awards for Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Defender of the Year and Coach of the Year will be presented, along with the award for Goalkeeper of the Year, at Friday’s Awards Ceremony at the 2010 PDL Championship in Portland, Oregon.

Votes for the Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year awards are submitted by PDL team management. Rookie of the Year finalists are determined by All-Conference voting, while the Defender of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year are chosen based on total All-Conference votes.

A rising junior, Brustad was voted to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Second Team last season.

The Stetson men's soccer team will be back on campus next week to begin preparations for defense of its 2009 A-Sun Championship. The Hatters will play exhibition games against Embry-Riddle (8/21), Rollins College (8/25) and Florida Tech (8/27) before opening the regular season at home against Johnson & Wales on September 1 at 7:00 p.m. The complete schedule can be found at www.gohatters.com.
