Former JU women's soccer standout, Kate Orr, announced as team's
graduate assistant Orr joins assistant coach Eric Dade as new
coaching additions for the 2010 season JACKSONVILLE, Fla. July, 30
2010 After four years of anchoring the JU back line, former defender
Kate Orr will be looking to bring a new perspective to the women’s
soccer program this year as head coach Brian Copham announced her as the
team’s graduate assistant today. During her collegiate career, Orr
played in every match and didn’t miss a start after her freshman year.
She received second team all-A-Sun honors as a sophomore and
all-academic accolades for all four years at JU. “We are very
excited to have Kate join our staff,” said Copham. “She was a phenomenal
player while here at JU and will bring an invaluable element of
experience and knowledge to the program. I know she has a passion for
the game and is a great competitor which she will pass on to the girls
on a daily basis. I am looking forward to having Kate work with us.”
Prior to her new position at JU, Orr was an assistant coach for the U-14
Girls Kyx, a part of the First Coast Soccer Association, and a personal
trainer and wellness associate at the South Metro YMCA. “I am really
excited about coming back to JU and contributing to the women's soccer
program,” said Orr. “I had a great time here as a student-athlete and am
looking forward to being a part of this team as a student-coach. I feel
that with my experience of being a former player, I can bring a lot to
the team.” In her sophomore campaign, Orr helped JU record eight
shutouts during the regular season and was named the A-Sun’s “Defensive
Player of the Week.” Orr graduated from JU in 2009 as an exercise
science major. She graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Kappa Phi, while being
named to both the Honors List and Deans List. The Dolphins will kick
off the 2010 season against Furman before taking on ACC power Clemson
less than a day later in Clemson, S.C. on Aug. 22. |
