Soccer Summer Update Five Seminoles are playing with their
respective national teams this summer.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – With the Florida State soccer season less than two
months from its season opener on August 20, many of the current
Seminoles are spending their summer vacation fine tuning their skills in
leagues across the country. Throughout the summer, Seminoles.com will
provide fans an inside look at how the current Seminoles are performing
both on and off the field.
The U.S. U-20 team, comprised of
Seminole juniors Tiffany McCarty, Toni Pressley and Casey Short, just
wrapped up a three-day training camp in Orangeburg, N.Y. at the
Orangetown Soccer Complex, before departing Germany on July 7 in
preparation for the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
At the
U-20 Women’s World Cup, the USA will be playing in Group D along with
Ghana, Switzerland and the Korea Republic. The U.S. will open against
Ghana on July 14 before facing Switzerland on July 17, with both games
taking place at the Rudolf-Harbig Stadium in Dresden, a newly built
27,000-seat venue. The U.S. team will then travel to the recently
renovated FIFA Women’s World Cup Stadium in Bielefeld, a 28,000-seat
venue, to conclude group play against the Koreans.
Tori Huster
was named to the U.S. U-23 roster for the upcoming Four Nations
Tournament in England. The United States will begin play on July 7 as
they take on host country England. The Red, White and Blue will then
face Norway on July 9 and Sweden on July 12.
Ines Jaurena
continues to train in her native country of France playing with the U-20
squad in preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In W-League
action, 11 Seminole student-athletes have hit the field this summer
racking up valuable minutes on the pitch. Katya Gokhman and Tifani
Mullen have both scored a goal for the Atlanta Silverbacks, while
Huster, Tiana Brockway and Ella Stephen have each tallied an assist.

performing in the early portion of the summer season:
