FSU Soccer Summer Update Five Seminoles are playing with their
respective national teams this summer.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. With
the Florida State soccer season less than two months from its season
opener on August 20, many of the current Seminoles are spending their
summer vacation fine tuning their skills in leagues across the country.
Throughout the summer, Seminoles.com will provide fans an inside look at
how the current Seminoles are performing both on and off the field.
Juniors Tiffany McCarty, Toni Pressley and Casey Short recently
returned from a week long pre-World Cup training camp in Germany with
the United States U-20 squad. Team USA dropped both exhibition matches
to Japan (2-1) and Germany (3-1) during the week long stay as all three
Seminole student-athletes saw action in both matches.
The U.S.
U-20 team will return to the field July 4-6 at the Orangetown Soccer
Complex in Orangeburg, N.Y., for a three-day training camp before
departing for Germany and the 2010 FIFA U-20 Womens World Cup.
Tori Huster was recently invited into camp with the U.S. U-23 squad led
under the direction of Bill Irwin. Huster was one of 24 players in camp
at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., from June 13-19 vying for a
spot on the 18-player squad. The U-23s will take part in the Four
Nations Tournament in Leicester, England, July 7-12.
Ines
Jaurena is back home in her native country of France playing with the
U-20 squad in preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In
W-League action, 11 Seminole student-athletes have hit the field this
summer racking up valuable minutes on the pitch. Katya Gokhman and
Tifani Mullen have both scored a goal for the Atlanta Silverbacks, while
Huster, Tiana Brockway and Ella Stephen have each tallied an assist.
