Central Florida United Soccer Club hosts the Mexico Women’s National Soccer Team for showcase soccer and Haitian relief events


Orlando FL, March 26, 2010 – The Central Florida United Soccer Club proudly announces that it will host the Mexico Women’s Full National Soccer Team for a series of action-packed athletic and charity showcase events in the Central Florida region.

At the invitation of CFU, the Mexico Women’s Full National Team will headline an international soccer showcase in Central Florida, arriving April 6 for a five-day series of premier competitions against nationally-ranked college teams from throughout the Southeast. The calendar includes four games between the Mexico team and premier teams from the University of Central Florida, the University of Auburn and the University of Georgia; a two-day soccer tournament featuring select U15 to U18 premier girl soccer teams from throughout Florida; and a community-wide charity event to benefit survivors of the Haitian earthquake disaster.

“We are thrilled to host the Mexico Women here in Central Florida,’’ said Hue Menzies, Executive Director of the Central Florida United Soccer Club. “This event will showcase the very best in women’s soccer at all levels of play, from World Cup competitors to college athletes to our young soccer aspirants here in Florida. In addition, we will come together as a soccer community to provide desperately needed help to those still struggling for survival in Haiti.”

The schedule of events is as follows:
• Wednesday, April 7, 7 p.m. at the University of Central Florida Track and Soccer Complex: The Mexico Women’s Full National Team plays the UCF Women’s Soccer Team
• Thursday, April 8, 5 p.m. at Central Winds Park in Winter Springs: The Change This World Charity joins with local businesses, the Central Florida soccer community, the Mexico Women’s Full National Soccer Team and the UCF Women’s Soccer team to prepare and package about 100,000 meals to benefit the Haitian people.
• Friday, April 9, 7 p.m. at the University of Central Florida Track and Soccer Complex: The Mexico Women’s Full National Team plays the Auburn Women’s Soccer Team
• Saturday, April 10, 8a.m. to 6p.m. at Central Winds Park: CFU hosts the Friendship Cup, featuring select U15 to U18 premier girl soccer teams
• Saturday, April 10, 6 p.m. at the University of Central Florida Track and Soccer Complex: The UCF Women’s Soccer Team plays the Auburn Women’s Soccer Team
• Saturday, April 10, 8 p.m. at the University of Central Florida Track and Soccer Complex: The Mexico Women’s Full National Soccer Team plays the University of Georgia Women’s Soccer Team
• Sunday, April 11 8a.m. to 2p.m. at the University of Central Florida Track and Soccer Complex: CFU hosts the Friendship Cup at UCF featuring select U15 to U18 premier girl soccer teams
The admission cost per showcase game is $5 for adults, free for UCF students with school ID and free for kids 12 and under. Free parking is available in Garage F.
