Central Florida United Soccer Club and Kraze/Krush Academy Merge

Winter Park FL, April 1, 2010 - The Central Florida United Soccer Club and the Kraze/Krush Academy are pleased to announce a merger of the two entities. The new entity, Central Florida Kraze/Krush, will provide exciting new opportunities and unparalleled development and training programs for youth soccer in the Central Florida region.

Founded in 1980, CFU is the largest and only professionally managed youth soccer organization in the region, offering a wide variety of soccer programs for children of all ages and skill levels. The Kraze/Krush program, founded in 1999, provides both adult and youth programs for kids 4-14 years old and for adults 18 and older.

Merging the two entities will provide both CFU and the Kraze/Krush with new opportunities to grow youth soccer programs in the Central Florida area, with a powerhouse staff of professionals at the helm. CFU Executive Director, Hue Menzies, will continue to lead the merged club, aided by Co-Directors, Joe Avallone and Greg Brick, from the Kraze/Krush Academy.  Also assisting them will be Keith Buckley, Director of Coaching, for the Kraze/Krush Academy.

Hue is a nationally renowned trainer who has spent nearly two decades coaching soccer athletes at the college and youth levels. When not on the field with Kraze/Krush players, Keith is the Men's Head Soccer Coach at Rollins College and was named 2008 Sunshine State Conference "Coach of the Year".

"Joining forces with the Kraze/Krush Academy will allow us to provide the absolute best youth soccer training and development programs in the region,'' said CFU Board President Ed Filliben. "Our mutual goal is to provide a safe, healthy and fun environment for our kids to learn and love to play soccer."

This merger, pending final approval, will allow both entities to combine resources to provide a quality soccer environment for soccer in the Central Florida area. This program will join the elite status of a few clubs in the country that will provide a comprehensive program from the recreational level to the development of professional players at the USL1 developmental league.

All the details of the merger will be forthcoming in the next 30 days.  There will be a "Meet the Club Night" for all the current members of both organizations and the soccer community to hear more about the new entity.  The meeting will be held at Willow Creek Church in Winter Springs on May 6th at 7:00pm. Details will be published to the soccer community in the near future.
