Glick and McCarty named Soccerfla.com Players of the Week
9/2/2008
FGCU's Adam Glick and FSU's Tiffany McCarty have been named the
Soccerfla.com Players of the Week. The award goes to the top players
from a Florida school for his or her performance over the past week.
Adam Glick, who was named to the 2008 Wolstein Classic All-Tournament
Team for his outstanding play, led the Eagles to a 1-1 finish and
secured the team a second-place finish in the Bert and Iris Wolstein
Classic that also included No. 9 Ohio State, Penn State and University
of Central Florida.
“Adam had a very good weekend,” said head coach Bob Butehorn. “He had a
hand injury that kept him from getting the games he needed over the
summer, but he has worked very hard to get himself sharp again. We
expect him to keep progressing, but we’re happy with where he is at this
point in the season.”

In a 2-1 heartbreaking loss to No. 9 Ohio State, Glick registered six
saves in 90 minutes between the pipes.
In the Eagles 1-0 upset win over Penn State, Glick tallied five saves
and registered his first shutout of the season.
Glick is a sophomore from Leola, PA, and played for Lanco United.
FSU Freshman Tiffany McCarty played a major role in what was an
impressive road trip for fourth ranked Florida State as the Seminoles
defeated a pair of top 15 opponents outscoring Penn State and
Connecticut by a combined score of 7-1.
McCarty
got the start in both games compiling 111 combined minutes of action on
the pitch. The freshman forward tallied five points on two goals and an
assist in the first game against the Nittany Lions. McCarty assisted on
the first goal of the game and then solidified the Seminole victory
netting the final two goals of the game as FSU defeated Penn State 4-1.
The Laurel, Md., native then followed up with an assist in Sunday’s
victory against Connecticut. McCarty sent a header to the top of the
goal box off a deep throw-in from Jessica Price where Lauren Switzer
one-timed a shot for the goal. McCarty finished the weekend accumulating
six points with three shots including two shots on goal. She currently
leads the team in points with six.
McCarty is from Laurel, Maryland and played for the Freestate Shooters.
