Hurricanes Season Opener Now A Home Match Rescheduled for Sunday at 1
p.m. at Cobb Stadium
CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s soccer team will have one
more home match added to their 2008 schedule, as their season-opener has
been moved from Stetson to UM due to Tropical Storm Fay.
Heavy rains earlier postponed the opener to Saturday evening, but due to
flooding and poor playing conditions the game has been moved from
Deland, Fla. to Coral Gables.
The season-opening meeting with Stetson will be the eighth match between
the two teams with Miami holding a 6-1 series advantage.
The Hurricanes are arguably coming off their best season in school
history (9-7-5) as they advanced to the NCAA Tournament for only the
second time. Head Coach Tricia Taliaferro earned the ACC Coach of the
Year honors joining Brittney Steinbruch in ACC accolades, as the
newcomer won Freshman of the Year honors.
The match is slated to start Sunday, August 24 at 1 p.m. at Cobb Stadium
and admission will be free to all.
