Hurricanes Selected to Finish Seventh in ACC Preseason Poll

North Carolina Picked to Top ACC For Third Straight Season



GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami soccer team was voted to finish seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference by the league’s 11 head coaches. For the third consecutive season, the Tar Heels were selected to be the top team in the ACC.



Florida State and Virginia were chosen to be second and third respectively, the third consecutive year that each program as been selected in the top three in the conference.



In 2007, the Hurricanes finished sixth in the ACC with a 4-4-2 record, and were undefeated in conference play on their home field. One of those home wins came in the form of a 1-0 victory over perennial powerhouse, North Carolina, the first win against UNC in program history.



Out of the conference’s 11 teams, eight advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2007, including Miami’s second trip in school history and first since 2001.



The six schools above the Hurricanes in this season’s preseason poll, finished the 2007 season ranked in the top-25, with Florida State (second), North Carolina (sixth) and Virginia (eighth) finishing in the top-10.



The 2007 Preseason ACC Women’s Soccer Poll had Miami in last place, receiving only 23 points from the coaches.
