Brauer Acknowledged by USL

TAMPA, Fla. – University of South Florida senior forward Lindsay Brauer was selected to the United Soccer League (USL) W-League Team of the Week, on June 23, the ninth week of the USL season.

Brauer notched the W-League Team of the Week honor after she scored the game-winning goal against the Carolina RailHawks. This award was Brauer’s first award in the W-League this season. In the 2008 Hellenic season, she has played in six games, scoring one goal, in her 495 minutes. She joins her Bulls and Hellenic teammate, Mallori Lofton-Malachi, in the accolade category this summer.

In 17 games of her 2007 USF soccer campaign, Brauer compiled four goals and two assists. Three of her four goals were game-winning scores. Brauer reached higher into the Bulls’ career record books compiling career marks of 96 shots (5th), 32 points (T-5th) and 13 goals (6th).

The W-League is USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the US and Canada. It is an open league, giving college players the opportunity to play alongside established international players while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The W-League features some of the top players in the world; 54 current and former W-League players participated in the 2007 Women’s World Cup in China representing nine countries and 17 current W-League teams.
