Miami-dade parks and Commissioner Joe Martinez dedicate New Real Madrid

New Soccer Fields and a Barrier-Free Playground will be Inaugurated
during the Dedication Ceremony
MIAMI – Miami-Dade Parks and Commissioner Joe A. Martinez, District 11,
will dedicate new development at Tamiami Park, which includes three new
regulation-sized soccer fields and a new barrier-free playground, on
Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 10 a.m. The public and all the soccer
community of South Florida are invited to attend. Tamiami Park is
located at 11201 SW
24 Street.
Players from the Soccer Academy of the Americas, the Real Madrid-Miami
Soccer Academy at Tamiami Park will join the celebration by playing
exhibition games on the new fields upon completion of the dedication
ceremony. In lieu of the ceremonial cutting of a ribbon, dignitaries
including Commissioner Martinez and the Consul General of Spain, Mr.
Santiago Cabanas, SAA-Real Madrid-Miami President Dr. Ismael
Roque-Velasco, Community Soccer Activist since 1966 Mr.. Lou Confessore,
the Director of the Real Madrid Camp in Miami, Inaqui Beni from the Real
Madrid Soccer Club in Spain and the President of the Real Madrid Fan
Club in Miami Mr. Cesar Alcazar will inaugurate the field by kicking
soccer balls into the goals.
Soccer Academy of the Americas-Real Madrid established a year round
soccer academy program under a programming partnership license agreement
with Miami-Dade County at the Tamiami Park Soccer Fields.
The soccer fields project, which includes three regulation-sized soccer
fields with Celebration Bermuda grass, an irrigation system with pump
and well, electrical and drainage systems, lights, bleachers, parking
lot, and walkways, completes the final phase of development of this
section of the park. A new club house with classrooms, locker room, gym
and concession stands will be develop in the next phase of the project.
