Matovski to join Wellington staff

Wellington Soccer Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Dave Matovski as the Youth U-12 Boys Head Soccer Coach. Dave comes to Wellington with a significant amount of playing and coaching experience. Patrick Zoete (Director of Coaches for Wellington Soccer Club) states, “It’s not enough to just find coaches that have played the game but more so have the ability to teach it”.
Dave comes to Wellington from Michigan where he was born and raised. Dave grew up playing youth soccer for Vardar '74 and enjoyed some tremendous success winning numerous State and Regional titles. He was a member of the Michigan ODP program from 13 - 17. He was a four year starter at Livonia Stevenson HS, winning State Titles in 1988 & 1991 and received a Division I Soccer Scholarship to San Diego State University (1992) and played one year before he was drafted in the 2nd round of the NPSL Territorial Draft (1993) by the Detroit Rockers. He completed up his soccer career as the captain of Michigan Arsenal, winning two National Championships - United States Amateur Soccer Association 1999 &2000.

Dave began his coaching at the Michigan Wolves and Vadar from 1993 – 1997, in that timeframe he was assigned to the ODP staff. His following coaching accomplishment’s came from the following:

• Jr. Arsenal U-23 2003 - 2006
• Brighton Soccer Club 2004 - 2007
• Michigan State Select U-23 2002 - 2005
