West Pines U13 Explosion Wins Orange Classic Premier Division.
Being one of the most prestigious tournaments for girls, the West Pines
United Under 13 Girls had their eyes set on an Orange Classic
Championship. West Pines dominated their bracket by winning all three
games, and outscoring their opponents 11 - 1. The next step was the
semi-final game which would prove to be the most challenging of the
tournament. West Pines would face a tough, determined team from New York
(Patriots FC). After 60 minutes the result was a 1-0 victory. Pines
would later be paired up in the finals with a Texas team that had
eliminated our cross town rival (Weston) in another hard fought 1-0
battle.
The final had drawn a lot of spectators. Both teams fought hard to get
to this point; there would be no loser today. For the first 15 minutes
of the game, everyone thought it would be another one goal game. WPU
struck first and kept the pressure on; by the half the score was 3-0.
The second half started with a quick strike from Texas that had West
Pines on their heels. This early strike ignited the Texas team, but the
determined young ladies from South Florida kept their composure and shut
the door tight. The final outcome was a 4-1 victory and the west Pines
U13 Girls were crowned the Premier Champions of the Orange Classic
Tournament.
The team’s previous tournament was the Pines Kickoff Classic in which
they were also crowned champions. They now look forward to the Gator
Showcase in February, where they hope to bring home another title.
The talented group consisted of Alexandria Alvarido, Kiana Clarke,
