Boca Juniors Wins Another Championship
Boca Juniors under 10 boys Soccer Team came home as Champions of the
recent Kelme Florida Cup Soccer Tournament. Held in Naples the weekend
of January 19 and 20, the event drew over 100 teams from throughout
Florida as well as several Eastern States. The tournament had twelve
teams of U10 players divided into red and blue divisions.
The Boca Juniors team includes Anthony Garcia, Frederick Gil, Paolo
Belloni, Jacob Montes, Lucas Allaria-Domeco, Cole Riccardi, Reece
Riccardi, Max Krieg, and goaltender Kyle Kirkwood. The team was coached
by Cam Kirkwood and Cesar Montes.
The Boca Juniors competed in the blue division against teams from Coral
Gables, Brevard County, Pinecrest in Miami-Dade County, Pembroke Pines
and Collier County. Several of the teams play each other during the
regular season in the Broward League. The Boca Juniors have been
defeated only once in nine league games this season.
After tying West Pines Black 4-4 on Saturday morning, the team beat
Eastlake that afternoon 10-4. At the end of the day, the standings had
three teams tied with identical 1-0-1 records. After tie breakers, the
Boca Juniors were in 3rd place, and earned a spot in the Semifianls. In
the semifinals, the team played Pinecrest. In a tight match that they
won 2-1, the Boca Juniors were able to move on to the finals on Sunday
afternoon against Brevard.
The Final was close at the beginning, with the score 3-2 at the half,
the Boca Juniors team scored 6 goals in the second half to take the
championship. Based on this extra ordinary performance the Boca Juniors
U-10 team has been invited to compete in the Weston Invitational
Tournament over President’s Day weekend.
