West Pines and Weston players combine to lead to team to win

Newton, Mass. - Junior midfielder Alejandro Bedoya (Weston) netted the game-winning goal in the 88th minute off a cross from Greg O'Neil as sixth-ranked Boston College improved its Atlantic Coast Conference record to 3-0-0 with a dramatic 2-1 victory over North Carolina State on Sunday at Newton Campus Field.

BC freshman Shawn Chin (West Pines) scored early - at 22:25 - and the team maintained its one-goal lead for more than 60 minutes of play before NC State senior El Hadj Cisse tied the score late - at 85:38.

Just two minutes and four seconds after Cisse's equalizer, Bedoya beat Wolfpack goalkeeper Christopher Widman (seven saves) with a header to the game-winning score.

Chin gave BC the early lead when received a pass from senior Sherron Manswell on the right side. He made one move and beat Widman with a right-footed shot to the top corner from 22 yards. Junior Paul Gerstenberger also assisted on the score.

BC junior goalkeeper Chris Brown recorded four saves, including an outstretched stop on a Cisse scoring low-scoring bid from outside the 18-yard box at 75:29, to earn the victory. Brown has allowed just four goals in eight games this season.

Boston College enjoyed advantages in shots (21-10) and corner kicks (8-5) in the game.

The Eagles are unbeaten in their last six games (5-0-1) improve their overall record to 6-1-1.

Bedoya is the team's leading scorer with 15 points -- four goals and seven assists. He and senior Sherron Manswell have each scored four times.
