West Pines u12 girls compete in boys division

 Sept 8, 2007

West Pines United U12 Girls, last year's FYSA President's Cup Finalists, have entered in the Tri-County Early Season Boy's Division in the U12 age group. Their first match of the season had them facing off against South Dade United.
On a blistering hot summer afternoon, after a brief delay due to inclement weather, West Pines United found the back of the net first when Ally Sant Antonio connected on a cross in the box to give West Pines a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Five minutes into the second half, Ally again struck a first time shot played into the box to give West Pines a 2-0 lead. Both teams continued to create chances and South Dade United was able to pull a goal back with 10
minutes left in the opening game for both teams. Excellent defensive play and stellar goalkeeping and the use of all 13 players were the keys to their 2-1 victory. Head Coach Todd Goodman commented on the victory, "The pace of the boy's game and the team speed are elements that you can't duplicate in the girl's game. We look forward to competing week in and week out". This talented team consists of Bridget Callahan, Ariana Fontenot, Tabatha Gonzalez, Mya Goodman, Ciara Keane, Nicole Kinsey, Guiselle Melendez, Melanie Monteagudo, Victoria Pineda, Chandler Precht, Ale Salazar, Carrisa
Sanchez, Ally Sant Antonio and Alexander Wassong-Fernandez.
