Sunrise Rising U15s Win Region C National Cup

Jacksonville, Fl (May 27, 2007) - The Sunrise u14 (rising u15) girls won the US Club Soccer Region C National Cup at Patton Park in Jacksonville. The team is now invited to the National Cup finals in Greensboro, North Carolina to compete against eight other regional champions in late July.

The final game, Kendall versus Sunrise, was a rematch of the FLUGSA championship. Sunrise won that one 2-0. Today's match was a battle from the beginning. Sunrise struck first on a goal by midfielder Jessica Bello at 10-minutes. Haleigh Stremanos made it 2-0 at the 16 minute mark. But Kendall's Nicole Z. got them back into the with a goal to make it 2-1 at half. Sunrise added a third goal by Angelica SanAntonio in the 60th minute. Kendall striker Scarlet Montoya added a second Kendall goal in the 88th minute. Sunrise held on for the 3-2 victory and the championship.

Since February, the team has collected championships in the Gator Showcase, FLUGSA, the Vulcan Cup and the National Cup Regionals.
